Self Adhesive Foam Tape Industries and Applications

What is foam tape?

At its simplest, foam tape is a tape that is used for situations where two surfaces are uneven or textured. If the area is particularly textured or has considerable irregularities, a thicker foam tape can be used. Foam tapes come in many foam types to cover different substrate requirements and adhesive is added to make the tape single or double-sided.

Foam tapes are available in a range of different sizes and cuts such as sheets, die-cut shapes and slit rolls. Our Zouch range of foam tape is pressure sensitive, easy to apply and clean to use, with no drying time.

Why is foam tape used?

Foam tapes are adaptable and they can provide cushioning, insulation, slip resistance, sound and vibration absorbency, weather proofing and ozone resistance, and so, it can be very beneficial to a range of different industries.

Foam tapes come in various foam ranges, such as soft, medium and firm density foam in open cell or a closed-cell format. The main compounds used are PVC, Polyurethane, Polyethylene, Neoprene, EPDM and more. Depending on what your application requirement is, will determine which range you require.

Soft
Soft range foam tape is often used for anti-vibration, lightweight seals, lightweight cushioning and for air and dust seals.

Medium
Medium range foam tape is often used for the reduction of heat transfer, cushioning and sealing, gap filling, waterproof sealing and separator.

Firm
Firm range foam tape is often used for high load bearing applications and for vibration and sound dampening, glass protection, sealing and slip pads where low compression is needed.

What are the key benefits?

  • Moisture resistance
  • Vibration and sound reduction
  • Slip resistance
  • Surface protector
  • Insulator
