Intricate Foam Gaskets
In recent years intricate foam gaskets have grown in popularity, especially due to the rise in 3D glasses for 3D film and TV, which enhances the illusion of depth perception and creates the effect of a 3-Dimensional space. Most 3D films use stereoscopic photography which overlays two images from different perspectives and 3D glasses work to limit the image that the wearer sees through either lens.
As the wearer requires a clear view through both lenses, foam gaskets are used to maintain a clean environment around the eyes by reducing dust and debris from collecting, so that vision isn’t impaired and the risk of any infection is minimised.
Our Zouch eFoam range has a physically cross-linked closed cell polyethylene foam which works perfectly for intricate foam gaskets for all manner of complex and small-scale items. As pictured, the physically cross-linked closed cell foam gasket wraps around the inner chamber of 3D glasses to protect the lens.
These foam gaskets (pictured) are 0.5mm thick and are made of a high density cross-linked PE Zouch eFoam.
Physically cross-linked are the more popular closed cell foam choice for intricate gaskets (as opposed to chemically cross-linked), as they can be used for a broader range of applications. No compounds are needed to create the cross-links and so, the foam is superior when it comes to consistency and reducing flaws and irregularities per patch produced.
Other benefits of intricate foam gaskets are:
- Resistant to grease and bacteria
- Lightweight
- Flexible
- Waterproof
- Durable for continued use
- Non-toxic
- Designed and cut to any custom shape
- Can be backed with adhesive
- Comes in a range of thicknesses
- Great permanent seals
